In full swing this August

It's been an active summer, and August seems to be no exception. Look for George Evans TONIGHT, August 18th at the Montréal Bistro in a tribute to the voice and vibes style of Mildred Bailey and Red Norvo. In the first half of the evening will be tunes from their repertoire, and in the second, look for selections from the collaborations between George Shearing and vocalists Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson. Backing this special evening are Shearing quintet alumni Reg Schwager on guitar and Don Thompson on vibes and piano, along with Pat Collins on the bass, and the wonderful Archie Alleyne on drums.

George Evans will be off to Montréal to record his new album next week (working title “Movie Songs”) and has just been invited to appear in the Montréal area for a four-day run over the Labor Day weekend at the “40 Westt,” with the Wali Muhammad trio. This exciting venue has brought upscale dining and great jazz to the residents of the west island, and Montréalers from all around town are finding their way there to see what they've been missing. If you caught George's appearance with The 3 Crooners at the Montréal International Jazz Festival, be sure to come out and say hello.

And if you do come by to either of these engagements, (or those listed below) take the opportunity to pick up a copy of George's latest production, “Here Come The Boys: A Canadian Crooner Collection,” from Maximum Jazz. The disc is being positively received and favourably reviewed across Canada, and you'll surely want to add this historic compilation of Canadian male vocalists to your collection. If however, you cannot come by in person, “Here Come The Boys” is in stores everywhere, and available via Amazon.ca for those outside the reach of Universal Music Canada's distribution arm.

Look for updates to the Fall schedule on the website, and thanks for your kind attention!
